Brian Callaghan MD
Callaghan is Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, US. Callaghan started on faculty at the University of Michigan in July 2009 and his research focus is on the causes of peripheral neuropathy. Currently, there are few treatments to reverse or prevent neuropathy outside of intensive glycemic control for those with diabetes. Therefore, the identification of modifiable risk factors for neuropathy is the first step towards effective therapies for this prevalent condition. Callaghan has a NIH funded K23 award that is designed to begin to address these questions by studying patients from the Investigational Weight Management Clinic at the University of Michigan. Similarly, he has ongoing studies in India and China to investigate similar questions.
