Francesca Fardo awarded a postdoc research project

Postdoc Francesca Fardo at the Danish Pain Research Centre and Interacting Minds Centre has been awarded a DFF Individual Postdoctoral grant from the Danish Council for Independent Research.

Her project aims at investigating the brain mechanisms underpinning temperature and pain perception. The experimental model is a perceptual illusion, known as the thermal grill illusion of pain, where the application of interlaced cold and warm bars on the skin generates burning sensations. She will investigate the central mechanisms mediating this illusory pain perception using magnetoencephalography (MEG) in combination with head casts, a novel technical development that greatly improves the spatial precision of MEG recordings.
