The strategy of this translational initiative is to establish a series of interlinked work packages (WPs) devoted to explore the mechanisms, risks, prognostic factors, and clinical profiles of diabetic patients with and without neuropathy. The research will be done within five different WPs, which will mutually support and strengthen each other.

Each WP will in itself represent a collaboration between the different research groups where different techniques and expertise are utilised. By bringing these four multidisciplinary groups together, it will be possible to address the pertinent questions related to diabetic neuropathy. The multi- and interdisciplinary structure as well as the collaboration within and between WPs will ensure a strong synergy and dynamic of the consortium.
