Jan Frystyk

Jan Frystyk MD PhD DMSci

Frystyk is Professor of Clinical Medicine and Consultant in Endocrinology. Frystyk graduated as MD in 1992, as PhD in 1996 and as DMSci in 2004. He completed his specialist training in endocrinology in 2006 at Department of Endocrinology and Internal Medicine, Aarhus University Hospital. So far, Frystyk has published more than 300 scientific articles predominantly within clinical and translational medicine, including biomarker studies. One of the main areas has been epidemiological studies of novel biomarkers of late diabetic complications such as cardiovascular disease and nephropathy. Another main area has been the study of the cross-talk between growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) and insulin in type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and obesity. Frystyk is member of the Education Committee of the Danish Diabetes Academy, Steering Committee Member of the PhD program within Clinical Medicine and member of the group responsible for the recent guideline regarding the Code-of-Conduct in Research at Health, Aarhus University. Frystyk also holds a position as Editor-in-chief of the journal Growth Hormone and IGF Research.
