Henning Beck-Nielsen

Henning Beck-Nielsen MD DMSci

Beck-Nielsen is Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Southern Denmark and Consultant Physician at Odense University Hospital. His clinical and scientific work deals with diabetes mellitus and metabolic disorders. His work is specifically concentrated on studies on the pathophysiology of diabetes and its complications. Beck-Nielsen has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and has trained around 35 PhD students and 7 doctor of medicine students. Beck-Nielsen is Head of the Diabetes Research Center at Odense University Hospital employing 8 senior scientists and 15 PhD students, the DD2 project and the Danish Diabetes Academy employing 100 full time diabetes researchers. He has served as Head of the Institute of Clinical Research at the University of Southern Denmark and chaired the Danish Medical Research Council.
