The International Diabetic Neuropathy Consortium (IDNC) was established in May 2015, which was made possible thanks to a Challenge Grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

The IDNC is hosted by the Faculty of Health and the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, and housed at the Danish Pain Research Center, Aarhus University Hospital. The IDNC is organised with a management structure consisting of a Director and a Steering Group and a Scientific Advisory board. In addition, the activities are supported by the IDNC administration and the administration at Aarhus University.

Exchange visits for PhD students and postdoctoral fellows between the participating sites will constitute an important element of the scientific and educational program of the consortium. By carefully recruiting younger scientists and clinicians to the center, we will ensure an educational structure so that fellows, postdocs, and MDs in clinical training will have the possibility to go abroad for long-term exchange visits between the participating centers.

Annual research meetings, international visiting scientists and other educational activities constitute other important elements in the IDNC.
